The Embassy of Austria is proud to be a program partner of the screening of the Oscar-nominated movie The Ritchie Boys recounting the story of a remarkable group of young men--many of them German-speaking Jewish immigrants--who trained at Camp Ritchie in Maryland to conduct espionage on the European front during World War II.
On October 25, 2012, Austrians and friends of Austria came together at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the Austrian National Day. While listening to traditional music, the guests could enjoy Austrian delicacies such as Wiener Schnitzel and Sachertorte.
On October 25, 2012, Dr. Günter Bischof, Director of Center Austria, received the “Austrian Award for Science and the Arts, 1st class” from Dr. Karl-Heinz Toechterle, Austrian Minister of Science during a ceremony at the Ministry of Science in Vienna.
On Monday, October 15, Austrian Scientist of the Year 2011, Prof. Sabine Ladstaetter, visited the Embassy to share insights into "The Many Faces of Ephesus – On Excavating Archaeological Treasures and Educating Tourists" with the audience.
On October 8, 2012, the new book Five Lives in Music: Women Performers, Composers, and impresarios from the Baroque to the Present by renowed music critic Dr. Cecilia Porter was presented at the Austrian Embassy in cooperation with the American-Austrian Cultural Society.
