Roll Over America to Washington, D.C.

Over 50 so-called Velomobiles (recumbent human powered vehicles) have recently crossed the continent from Portland, Oregon, to Washington, D.C. on a tour called Roll Over America (ROAM). The tour was designed to showcase the benefits and practicalities of human-powered vehicles, while the riders shared the experience of the grand tour across the continent.

In Washington, D.C., a welcome reception for the riders was hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States on August 25, 2011. The riders, who come from Europe, Canada, and the United States, were greeted by Ambassador João Vale de Almeida, the Head of the EU Delegation to the United States. Representatives of the Austrian Embassy took the opportunity to greet the Austrian Velonaut Benjie Taubald from Vienna.
