The annual Austrian Science Talk (AST) took place on September 10, 2011, at the New York Academy of Sciences. The conference provided about 130 participants with an opportunity to learn about recent R&D policy developments and new career as well as funding opportunities. It also facilitated the establishment of research collaborations between North America and Austria.
The conference highlighted interactive discussions and provided an ideal opportunity for networking. For the first time in co-operation with the Austrian Trade Commission, the day prior to the AST the Austrian Science Talk brought together executives of Austrian subsidiaries in the United States and Austrian Scientists based in North America.
On the evening of the Austrian Science Talk, the ASCINA Awards 2011, which are sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research (BMWF), were awarded by Secretary General Friedrich Faulhammer and ASCINA-President Peter Nagele in a ceremony at the landmark Austrian Cultural Forum New York.
