From October 1-17, the traveling
exhibition “The Vienna Model” can be seen at the D Center in Baltimore.
The exhibition, which had its debut at the Austrian Cultural Forum in
New York, is curated by Wolfgang Förster and William Menking and
features 36 case studies of Viennese public housing design. A series of
images of artworks, curated by Sabine Bittner and Helmut Weber,
accompanies the exhibition.

From October
4-10, 2013, Film|Neu: D.C.'s Festival of New German-Language Cinema,
organized by the Goethe Institute, will take place at E Street Landmark
Cinema in downtown Washington, D.C. The 21st edition of this annual
festival, which features contemporary films from Austria, Germany and
Switzerland, will kick off on October 4 with the German dramedy Oh Boy. Austria's contribution this year include the dramas Kuma and The Shine of Day.

UNO Fine Arts and Center Austria Artist Exchange 2013
will take place on October 12, 2013. Featuring works by Austrian
artists Daniela Maria Span and Charlotte Simon, the exhibition will be
showcased until November 2, 2013 at the UNO St. Claude Gallery in New
Orleans. For over 10 years, the University of New Orleans and the City
of Innsbruck have held an annual artist exchange.

Conference | Austria Connect 2013
AUSTRIA CONNECT, the 6th Annual
Conference for Executives of Austrian Subsidiaries in the United States,
organized by the Austrian Trade Commissions in New York, Chicago, Los
Angeles and Washington, D.C. took place from September 26-27, 2013. For
the first time since its inception, the conference, which focused on
Technology and Enterprise, was held in Los Angeles.

U.S. Ambassador William Eacho Honored
On September 24, 2013, Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer awarded
former U.S. Ambassador to Austria, William C. Eacho the Grand Decoration
of Honour in Gold with Sash for Services to the Republic of Austria.
The celebration was held at the residence of Martin Sajdik, Permanent
Representative of Austria to the United Nations in New York.

2nd AJC ACCESS Trip to Vienna
The second annual AJC ACCESS visit to
Austria/Vienna took place from June 24-July 1, 2013. The trip, which was
organized by the Jewish Welcome Service Vienna in cooperation with the
American Jewish Committee and the Austrian Press and Information Service
in Washington D.C., offered delegates an opportunity to experience
present-day Vienna and engage with key interlocutors from the political,
cultural and diplomatic fields.
